Arrive at the first rehearsal with a basic command of your music.
You should study your part in advance—ideally with the guidance of your private or studio teacher, if applicable. Music will be posted in Google Classroom for you.
Follow weekly practice notes and tempo markings closely.
These will be updated regularly and should guide your individual practice.
Listen to professional recordings of the repertoire.
Follow along with your part to understand how it fits within the full work. Many recommended recordings will be posted in Google Classroom, or may be found online.
Practice consistently each week.
Reinforce what was covered in the most recent rehearsal and continue to develop your technique and musicality based on the conductor’s instructions.
Use a metronome regularly.
A metronome is essential for developing accurate rhythm and tempo. While phone apps are acceptable, a dedicated metronome is strongly recommended to avoid distractions.
Participate in all part checks and seating auditions as scheduled.
A “midpoint” is listed on your calendar as a general reference for part checks, but you should prepare each week as if a check-in might occur—because it is. Not all part checks will result in reseating, but they are an important part of your growth and accountability.
